How can we make i9 start cleaning from where it left off after an extended break?

This thing is driving us nuts. It cleans for ~40 mins, charges for ~3 hours then goes back to where it finished and recommences. All good. We get all that.

However.... it has so far taken a whole day of this (several times now) and still has two rooms to map. This is not a large house, we've removed stuff off the floor ot make it easier for the initial map. What is frustrating is that we don't want it cleaning all through the night for obvious reasons, but we don't know how to stop it say early evening so we can restart the following morning from the same position it left off so it completes the initial map & clean.

It appears you don't have the option in the App of Pausing whilst it is charging. Pausing it OFF the charger it runs out of power overnight and you're back to square one. It starts the clean all over again....... another day of 40 mins then 3 hours, 40 minutes then 3hours.... to do the same thing all over again and STILL not get to the parts it hasn't even mapped yet. All day yesterday.

We've sent it back Home immediately after a recharge and it assumes it's finished the clean and back to square one per above. It starts all over again.

All the mapped areas are visible in the app.

How can we stop it cleaning, then have it restart where it left off later? Are we missing someting obvious here?

Cheers....Rick

  • That's not a current feature. Try eco mode and it'll run a bit longer. Maybe it'll save you a charge cycle.

  • Hi,
Good suggestion mrmega. We will come with a lot of functionality during this year that will be available to you robots. Some of it may address what you highlight

    Hi Rickh,
If you can manage to pause it soon after it has left the charger, it should last for about 24 hours.

Hi - thanks raahlb... per my original note (extract below) we thought that would work too but it did not. It was allowed to fully charge, we waited until it left the charger (we let it go for about 30 secs) to return to where it last finished (so it had left "home" fully charged), pushed Pause. Fail. It was off the charger for about 12 hours at best:

We've resorted to picking it up and transporting it to another room now, starting it and shutting the door. Kinda defeats the purpose. ............... :-(

Oh, OK. It doesn't sound like your batteries are worn out either, if it manages 40 minutes per pitstop. During pitstop we don't fully charge the batteries, but I would expect it to manage at least 16 h, but obviously I'm wrong.

As Martin wrote, we have some upcoming functionality that should alleviate your problem. Can't promise any dates, though.

Cheers for that - we're otherwise happy with "Dung Beetle" - he (she) works ok apart from this, does a good job for us so we'll wait to see what the future holds in terms of S/W updates for him/her. Thanks for the reponses tho. Cheers
